There are many adjustments when attending college regardless of your situation. Spoon River College is pleased to provide you with support through Counseling Services. Knowing that there is a safe place to come to and a person to speak with about your college experience is important. We want your SRC experience to be positive and successful!
When you need someone
Professional, free counseling is available to help students work through a wide variety of issues that they might face during their college experience.
Counseling is provided by staff who have earned advanced professional degrees and are licensed by the State of Illinois.
Common issues may include (but are not limited to):
- Relationship issues
- Academic Struggles
SRC Counseling Services can offer a brief solution-based approach to therapy for students free of charge. That means that we provide up to 45 minutes per session of individual counseling to each student as needed.
Each student has their own unique needs and how often each student meets for services is determined with the counselor and based on the challenges that the student is facing.
All counseling records are kept strictly confidential and are not part of the College records. Information is shared only with a student’s written permission.
Exceptions to confidentiality are rare and include when a person poses a threat to his/her own safety or the safety of others, or when ordered by a Court.
