AA&S DEGREE – CONCENTRATION IN EDUCATION
This curriculum is designed for students interested in transferring to a four-year institution in degree programs such as elementary education, secondary education, early childhood education, or special education. Individuals wishing to be approved as teacher aides must submit the following items:

  • ISBE Form 73-95, Request for Paraprofessional Approval/Approval for Paraprofessional Employment in Title I Positions, and
  • Evidence of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent (GED), and
  • One of the following:
    • Official transcript(s) from a regionally accredited college or university, or
    • Original ETS ParaPro score report (460 or higher), or
    • Original WorkKeys "Proficiency Certificate for Teacher Assistants," or
    • State approval and documentation of 300 Professional Training Points or
    • State approval and "Assurance of Local Assessment for Paraprofessionals"(ISBE Form 77-34)

Submit your documentation to your regional office of education. The approval will be issued by the Regional Office of Education where the application is filed.

*Students who are completing an Associate Degree must complete a graduation portfolio. For those students completing an Associate in Arts & Science (AA&S), an Associate in General Studies (AGS), or an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree, a one credit Portfolio Capstone Class will also be required.
