Professional Licensure Disclosures

Spoon River College offers programs leading to professional licensure. These programs are defined as those that meet educational requirements for a specific professional licensure or certification that is required for employment in an occupation. States vary in what professions they require to be licensed and how licensure is acquired. Some states require an individual to graduate from an accredited program. Others require individuals to obtain additional coursework, additional fieldwork, background checks, passage of additional state licensing exams, additional fees, or other requirements. When a student graduates from a licensure program at SRC, he or she has the minimum educational qualifications to apply for Illinois licensure.

Under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) regulations, certain disclosures are required for academic programs leading to professional licensure regardless of the modality they are offered. Before enrolling in a program that leads to licensure, students are strongly encouraged to review the information under the respective program:

  • If SRC has not determined whether a program meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification outside the state of Illinois, prospective students should contact the licensing entity to determine whether it meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification in the state where you live or work.
  • Should a student relocate to another state during the course of a program, it may impact the student’s ability to remain in the program, meet the state licensure requirements, and/or continue to receive financial aid funding.

The Professional Licensure Directory

NC-SARA also has created and maintained the Professional Licensure Directory, which provides contact information for programs leading to a professional license that have the most enrollments nationally. Nursing is included in this directory and is also a licensure program offered at Spoon River College.

This resource does not house regulations or requirements; it is exclusively general contact information. Students may find this contact information helpful in their research on state licensure requirements in their locations. NC-SARA updates the contact information twice annually.
